Skier Found Dead on Keystone Slope Identified as Westminster Manklin
Authorities have identified the skier who was found unresponsive at Keystone Resort in Summit County, Colorado, earlier this week. According to Colorado Public Radio, the man was 59-year-old Eric Baltz of Westminster, Colorado.
Baltz was discovered by fellow resort guests in Keystone’s Outback area on a black diamond trail known as The Grizz. Witnesses reported finding him unconscious on the slope. When he did not respond, the guests immediately began CPR and contacted ski patrol for assistance.

Keystone Ski Patrol arrived quickly at the scene and continued life-saving measures. Due to the seriousness of his condition, Baltz was airlifted by helicopter to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials confirmed that Baltz was wearing a helmet at the time he was found. No further information has been released regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. The Summit County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
In a statement, Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons expressed condolences to those impacted by the incident. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic loss,” FitzSimons said.
Keystone Resort has not announced any changes to operations following the incident. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing as they await the coroner’s findings.
